NDERE CULTURAL CENTER VISIT

Ndere Centre is the Home of Cultures located on Plot 4505, Kira Rd, Ntinda – Kisaasi Stretch. Ndere Troupe comprises of individuals from the different regions of Uganda. As you may not be aware, Uganda has over 56 tribes making it one of the most culturally diverse country in the World. The Ndere Troupe captures the amazing cultural songs, dances and unique instruments from the 56 nationalities (tribes). We had the opportunity of visiting the center which is mostly green, thus fresh air and a good breeze in the evening. The visit was organised by the Administration of both MUBS and CBS  which included transportation, entertainment and dinner. Students were entertained as they enjoyed their dinner by the different cultural groups. The show ended at 11:28pm with a wrap up that saw everyone on the dance floor as a way of encouraging unity among all cultures, nationalities and tribes. The Jinja Trip

The CBS and MUBS students participating in the 2018 project made a trip to Jinja. Jinja is famed for its tourist attractions namely; the source of the Nile, the Bujagali Falls, it is also home to many factories, notable among them the Kakira Sugar Works. Jinja town is 80km east of Kampala, and the river Nile welcomes into this great city in Eastern Uganda. We set off from the Red Chilli aboard a 30 seater mini bus at about 7:30, and made a stop over at Namawojolo a trading center along the way. At this center roast chicken literary flew into the bus, we were shocked at this site and only a handful of MUBS students bought some chicken and grilled bananas. We crossed the river Nile at about 10:30am and we were amazed to see the Nile start her journey all the way to the Mediterranean sea north of Africa. Our next stop was the Kakira sugar factory which is about 10km out of Jinja town on the Jinja-Kenya highway. We were welcomed by the factory officials who took us on a familiarization
